The first three things you should know before you start making your video production or productions.

What are you selling? Your product or service is the core of what you want people to recognise in your production, but it is not what you are selling! You are selling the experience, emotion and the outcome of what your customer will get out of buying your services. So when starting to put together your ideas, you need to think of what your product can do for your client, how it is a solution to their problem and how you can visually show an experience with your product or service that will really connect with your client on a level that you have solved their problem.
While thinking of those ideas you need to also start thinking of who are selling to! There are many ways to break down your target market, you need to think of how your product is going to solve their problem, what age group you are focusing on, and whether is male or female dominance. This will help you further think of what your production will be about and how the video can really impact a viewers perspective of your product.
When starting a video having an idea of where you are going to play it is really going to effect what style of video it is going to be. Whether it is for television, your website or social media the video really needs to suit those platforms, and I’m not talking a technical aspect, I’m talking that you are placing your video amongst a crowd of other media and it needs to stand out above the rest.
Television you have your prime time spots, and you’re not so prime time, if you are aiming for prime time then your production value really needs to be high! If you planning to place your video just on your website it can be longer video which explains your purpose. If your video is going on social platforms like facebook or youtube, it needs to be short and creative, you really need to grab the viewer’s attention on an emotional level, it could be humorous or dramatic, it could also be a series of videos, but it cannot be “hey buy my product,” and you have 5 seconds before they click the skip ad button!
Video is one of the best ways to really highlight what you are selling the amount of traffic you will get from video is far greater than any other online content strategy. Why because it is short concise, entertaining and informative. Breaking down the areas above can really make just the right video for your client without boring them with heavy information. It will really help you start to visualise the production and you will connect with your client far greater than text, video is one of the best conversion tools and the right video will really sell your product or service!
